newsies halloween

We love this time of year...
Our skeletons Nobody and No-One appreciate coming out of the store room for a few weeks...
This Halloween there was much debate about what to be.  There usually is, but this year the kids could just not come to terms and neither could the Burch Jerks so finally mom just said she was deciding.  The kids had been really into Newsies after watching the Broadway version on Netflix so I decided that is what we would do.  I also figured it would be way easier than most other options since it would require very little sewing.  Well, at first they weren't excited about it until I got them to start getting the costumes together.  I dressed up with the girls to go to Gus' costume parade at school.  It was funny how people that know the movie thought we were amazing, but also surprising how many people haven't seen Newsies and had no idea what we were from.  A lot of people thought Gus was Tiny Tim thanks to the crutch.
While we didn't base our costume pieces off of the actual characters, we decided that Jimmy was probably Davy, Gus was Crutchy, Nora was Les, and Francie was Spot Collins since she is obviously the toughest one.  I guess that means Dad got to be Jack Kelly and mom was random Newsie #6?  Francie didn't want to wear her hat, but a friend helped me snatch that one pic above before she pulled it off.  She wouldn't keep it on that night at all, but she still looked cute.  Well, actually I think we all looked pretty cute...
We Carried the Banner.
We Seized the Day.
We were King of New York.
Ain't it a fine life?
Have no fear Brooklyn's here!!
BAABEe helped me make the newspapers with a little photoshopping and glueing onto some old Catholic Suns (that is the only newspaper we get these days)...
After a little trick-or-treating in our neighborhood for the first time ever, we headed over the Speier's to meet up with the the Burches and friends...
 Candy was sorted and devoured...
After Halloween we managed to get a few of our annual pumpkin pics before they were completely rotten.
(Just ignore the dissolving jaw on one of them)...
It is getting to be a lot of faces to fit around that pumpkin, but that is how we like it.
Happy Halloween!
