Here is the last edition of our Homeschool Preschool from this past year...
Joshua and the Battle of Jericho
After reading our story of Joshua, our craft was making a very simple paper plate horn...

After reading our story of Joshua, our craft was making a very simple paper plate horn...
Even little Elsie appreciated this craft..
Then the kids got dressed up in their Biblical attire and built the city of Jericho out of cardboard blocks we had borrowed from my sister...
As you may know, that means the walls of Jericho came tumbling down...
The boys wanted to do this part over and over again. However, they were more interested in the destroying than the building so they weren't very productive. We went inside for a snack from the Land of Milk and Honey (Ritz with honey and a cheese stick). We are fancy...
May Crowning of Mary
We wanted to take the kids to a May Crowing so we decided to make it part of our Preschool lesson. We met for Mass at St. Simon and Jude to watch the students crown the Mary Statue. Then we all gathered around after mass to say a Hail Mary together.
We were happy our friend Aurea was at Mass and came to join us for preschool...

Gus acted as the Angel with a Sword (no surprise he wanted to be that) and Luke acted as Joshua and bowed down at his feet.
We had also thrown together an Ark of the Covenant and placed our 10 Commandments inside. The boys took turns carrying it around the city.
Then the kids all went and laid down to go to "sleep" for the night.
After a few times making their way around the city and going to sleep, we finally let them blow their horns...

Then we came back to my house to do our preschool lesson. However, on the way to my house my friend Erin drove past a garage sale on my street. She couldn't believe her eyes because they were selling a large concrete statue of Mary. She bought it for $4! She was so excited because she has been looking for one to keep in her yard for a long time, but hadn't had the money to buy a new one. She kept hoping she would find a used one somewhere and she couldn't believe that on this day of all days she actually found one. She had even driven a different route than usual to get to my house and if she hadn't done that she never would have seen the sale. The Blessed Mother really must have led her there. We were all so happy for her and I am sure the statue will always hold an extra special place in her heart after finding it that way. Back at my house we talked to the kids about Mary and the rosary and then did a craft...
They each colored a picture of her and picked a different crown to put on her...We were happy our friend Aurea was at Mass and came to join us for preschool...
David and Goliath
Our last lesson of the year was one we knew the kids would enjoy.
We read the story of David and Goliath...
And then they helped decorate our giant paper Goliath...
Most of them ended up on the ground so we just let the kids start throwing them so that they could actually hit Goliath.

Jimmy had fun helping me make this giant the day before. Gus added a shield and sword as finishing touches. We found a spot on Megan's house that was actually big enough to hang up this 9' tall man. All these little Davids were ready to fight...
Then we used a sling shot to throw water balloon "rocks" at him.
This proved more difficult than anticipated so I had to help each kid. Most of them ended up on the ground so we just let the kids start throwing them so that they could actually hit Goliath.
He was quite wet by the end. It was a fun way to end our last day.
We had so much fun learning more about the Bible this past year as well as saints and feast days.
I am grateful for the friends that made it happen and the kids that enjoyed all our hard work.
